The Jiffy Diet BOOK
Sometimes, no matter how much you spent on your outfit and however long you lingered in the beauty parlour - you feel just feel fat!
Monica Grenfell's new Jiffy Diet will sort out all your party-dress problems. You might not like to talk of dieting and there is no law that says what weight we should be, but having a thoughtful regime that keeps your tummy flat is plain common-sense for every woman.
A good figure is the basis of great fashion. We may recoil when we look in the mirror naked but to what extent is that image seen outside our own bedrooms? Apart from the swimming-pool and beauty parlour, I suggest not at all. Therefore we should strive to look as good as we can in our clothes. Miracles can be achieved these days. The most amazing improvements are possible. But at what stage does the effort slide over into being ridiculous? All women over thirty are now asking themselves “How far shall I go? What is normal? How young and slim and perfect should I look?
I have friends – we all have - who are walking examples of this dilemma. Some have had surgery and dieted themselves to runner-bean proportions. Others have given up any attempt at a good figure and mentally, spiritually and physically, they weigh a ton. I don’t think either person portrays the image she believes she is portraying, and that is sad.
A flat abdomen spells youthfulness and good health and when I speak of how far we should go to look good, I believe surgery is a stage too far and a 'fad' diet is a realistic solution.
Whatever methods you use to look good, it doesn't matter if you are twenty or sixty. What you can DO about these things depends very much on what you have DONE in the past. A figure out of shape for too many years, a posture that took twenty years getting so bad: these do not help. But why add to your troubles by spending the next three months dieting and sucking your savings account dry to pay for surgery, personal trainers, liposuction, mud wraps or special machinery, just to flatten your tummy? Frankly, your best option is a quick Jiffy diet followed by a measure of discipline with a progressive regime that you stick to.
I know this diet works because I have spent many years advising women about looking their best. The celebrities we admire are not usually so calm and confident on the inside. They are human. They come to me for quick fix diets and nutrition advice because of course, dieting too much will ruin the complexion and dry the hair and basically defeat the object of looking sleek and trim, stunning and FLAT
None of us will have a perfect figure for the whole of our lives. What we should do is MASK our imperfections. There is not a woman in the world who does not slope around the house sometimes, looking dishevelled, unkempt and scruffy – and this does not matter for we can be whoever we want to be in private. What matters is not that we HAVE the perfect figure, but that we can achieve it when we want to. All that matters is that we project our best selves, the self we want the world to see, when we want people to see it.
And whether you need to look good tonight, tomorrow or next week; whether you need to lose a tiny tummy or feel a little more uncomfortable, this diet will take you through the essential steps to achieve your flat tummy – every day
