Getting into Your Fat Burning Zone

Find your FBZ by using this calculator. You will get a lower figure and a higher figure. Try to raise your heart rate so it remains somewhere in the middle of the two figures.

Use a watch and take your pulse in your neck, a couple of inches below your left ear.
Try to keep your pulse between the two figures.

How often should I do cardiovascular exercise?

Current recommendations are about 4-5 times a week.

How long should my workouts last?

Your pulse needs to be raised continuously for about 20 minutes. Allowing 10 minutes either end for warming up and cooling down, (to raise and lower your heart gradually),
This takes your workout to 40 minutes.

Obviously, you can extend this time, but don’t overdo it... Never do cardio for more than 45 minutes a time, unless you are an elite athlete or in training.

The Get Back Into Your Jeans workout video has 20 minutes of aerobics which will take you into your FBZ while also toning and conditioning your ENTIRE body. It concludes with 20 minutes of toning for your lower body.
